Anyone knows of an audio editor that can
preview (or playback) audio over firewire?

Hello Steve and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

ProTools LE, among others, does.

Thanks for the welcome Ty,
I am part of the family...but first time in this audio
section.
Apart from pro-tools (which i don't use), any other off the
tip of your head you could suggest.

Steve,

OK. Audio over firewire is possible by a lot of apps, if you're thinking about a piece of software and a hardware audio interface. I only have direct experience with ProToolsLE.

Perhaps someone else can toss in here or resort to some googling.

Regards,

Ty

I would recommend the M-Audio family of Firewire audio interfaces. I have the M-Audio Firewire Solo. It was inexpensive and sounds decent. I use it with Soundtrack Pro, Peak and a few other programs and it works well. Simple two channel I/O with decent mic pre-amps.
