Recording in room with stuckle ceilings?
on Aug 28, 2008 at 3:56:40 pm

I am going to record some video in a room using a lav or headset boom mic like the Countryman. The room will have stuckle ceilings. Is this a good thing or bad? Should the ceilings be covered with sound blankets?

Thanks.

I assume you mean "stucco" ceilings.

Any kind of close, hard surface will generate a sharp reverb back to the mic.

It would not be very practical to attempt to attach the blankets to and try to cover the ceiling.

You can place blankets around the talent on the floor and maybe drape some blankets on C-Stands just outside the frame near and around the talent.
