multi-cam on boat shoot

Hey all...thank you in advance for any advice you can offer..

we are going to shoot footage for a documentary on a ship in the keys next week.. there will be 3 or 4 cameras involved..two hvx200s, a sony HD equivalent, and maybe the hpx3000...not sure...anyway...3 to 4 cameras...not matching

i have an adzen dual channel wireless lapel mic setup...that's it...i'm sure that is not ideal for this shoot.

we're shooting people working and diving and also shooting some interviews here and there.

my question is should we used wired or wireless...lapels or shotguns...do we need a mixer? should we record to the cameras or use a deck or something?
thanks so much,
jason

I would suggest a combination of wired and wireless, lavs and shotguns. A mixer would be a good idea as well. You can record direct to one or two of the cameras BUT above all, you should hire an audio professional to monitor your audio. If budget doesn't allow it, then I'd suggest going with one less camera. Do you really need 3 or 4 cameras on a boat? Will the visuals from 3 or 4 cameras be of any use if you dont have decent audio to go with them?

Nicely put.

I was on a sports shoot doing audio earlier this year; four HDV cams. Wayy too many cams. Just because you have them doesn't mean you should use them.

A QUALIFIED audio person and his/her gear can make a world of difference.

Good audio is not trivial, especcially when your baseline is Azden.

Maybe worth checking back later....
