Working on a pc platform as a video editor using vegas.

I've used cool edit for years and was very happy. Now it's time to
upgrade. My options are:

Adobe audition 2.0
Pro Tools m-powered 7
Sound Forge latest version

Costs are all comparable

My needs are audio editing (non-destructive and destructive) EQ, compression etc, cleaning up mic noises with some multi track mixing

What product gives the best professional features for the buck?

Thanks

Larry

PS other options to explore? (I loved bias peak and decklink years ago)

I'm using PT LE (M-box), and I find the DV toolkit to be almost indispensable. The last time I checked, M-powered did not support the DV Toolkit, which seems reason enough to spend the extra money for full-bore LE.

Because I come from a Pro Audio background, and am Mac based, Pro Tools LE does it for me.

Soundtrack is OK and has some very helpful plugins that PTLE doesn't have, but the GUI is weird.

Between the three you listed, Pro Tools takes it hands-down. I'm used to sitting on a fat TDM rig so couldn't advise on the DV Toolkit issue, but that should be checked out before you buy anything. If you ever get stuck, there's loads of people that are super-fluent in PT, which is more than can be said for Audition and SoundForge. Digidesign only makes Pro Tools, while Adobe and Sony have bigger fish to fry.
