Headphones for noisy environments

I am looking to start shooting in clubs/bars.....local bands type of stuff. The problem is monitoring my audio with those big speaker systems. Any suggestions?

I was thinking of using noise cancelling headphones like those from Bose (maybe having 'bud' type headphones on under them if necessary), but I don't know if they would work.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Doug

Problem is they add in a lot of extra frequencies so you're not really hearing what you're recording.

Try
http://www.remoteaudio.com/hn7506.htm
They take sony 7506 headphones and put them into headsets that are used in small aircraft. Very isolated and the best option I have run into under $500.00

remoteaudio works great.

Another approach is to buy an in-ear monitor such as Etymotic ER-4, which provides about 20db isolation out of the box. Then, if you need even more, put on headphone-style hearing protection from an industrial safety supplier or from a gun shop. Kinda' geeky but it really works.
