I have a narrator who records her scripts at home, and ftp's the files to me. This generally works.

However she edits the sentences on top of each other...so there is as little as 5 frames between sentences.

I have let her know to stop doing this, which she has.

My question is, is that a normal thing to do? Even most radio commercials aren't cut that tight. She does come from a radio background.

I say she should cut the pauses
a) only if you the client has instructed her to.
b) with a natural timing.

Bear in mind that the natural pause with a breath (not gasp) in there sounds too long if you merely remove the breath for silence (IMHO).

I never let my narrators or studios cut the narration. I direct on the phone and have them send EVERY take unedited so I can make those choices.
