maximum length on audio CD?
on Oct 26, 2005 at 7:06:55 pm

I am a TV video editor assigned the task of remastering many cassette tapes on to CD.

What is the max length a CD can hold? 74 min is default I see. (I have an 80- minute cassette to put on CD and hate to use 2 cd's.)

Can things be compressed to make it smaller?

I can make this with Vegas Video - is there any reason I would need a dedicated CD authoring software package?

Also, how to you get the tracks, artist name and other info to appear on a player screen?

Thanks

Larry

You can't "compress" an AUDIO CD and still have it play as a CD.
It must be a 44.1 kHz audio file in the proper CD audio format to play in a CD player as a CD.

Some players can play mp3 and other kinds of files, but an audio CD must be recorded as such to play in a standard CD player.

That said, you can buy CD-R blanks that record up to 80 minutes.

Google (or eBay) for "80 minute CD-R".
