Boom Mic recommendation

I have around a $400 budget to spend on a good boom mic for my DVX-100.

I will be using it for both indoor and outdoor scenes until I am able to get separate mics.

I am looking for recommendations for the best audio setup I can get for this price.

Thanks

Is $400.00 your total budget for the Mic, cable, zepplin or windscreen, shock mount, boom pole?
Or just the Mircophone?

If that's all you have for a shotgun mic.
Save up some more money and get a better mic you''ll really be glad you did in the long run.

I'm in the middle of that road right now first started of with AT mics (priced at around $200) that sucked!

Then jumped up to Shure SM89 (priced around $450.00)
That's a little better but now realizing that I need to jump up to the $1,000++ mark to get a Schoeps CMC641 or Sennheiser MKH416-P48.

If you can just save your money and get the Schoeps or the Senn. You'll be glad you did.

As far as pistol grip, zepplin, dead cat & cables your looking at quite a bit more of an investment.

Thanks for the advice.
Since I am not in an immediate need for the mic right now, I can save up for one that will be worth it.

take a look at the Azden SGM-2x. It is a very good mic for the $250.00 you will pay for it. you could get a pole and cables for under $400.00 with the Azden. we have a couple of them and they are fine. The senn and schoeps will sound a bit better.....but.

How much of a difference is there between the SGM-2x and the SGM-1000. Is the difference in sound worth the difference in price?

I have no experience with the 1000. the SGM2 works well for us.
