How to edit a project from someone else's computer?
on Sep 14, 2017 at 10:02:23 pm

Hi guys, I am trying to send a premiere project to a TV network to broadcast but they need to make some edits on the project. Is there anyway that I can embed all of the clips into the project somehow so that I can send them the adobe project file and they can edit it? Or is there any other way for them to be able to access my project and all of the files in it? I guess I am just asking how I can transfer the whole project to them so that they are able to edit it all in premiere themselves. Thanks for any help,

Peter

Consolidate all of the media in the project to an external drive. Send them that drive and the project file.

But why can't they just give you notes and have you do the editing? That's how it normally works. They give notes on what they want changed, and you do the editing.

Shane

Not trying to hijack this thread, but couldn't find a way to post separately.

In another post you talked about backing up projects before editing. I'm wondering how you backup during a project and at what point do you render out a full video? Do you make incremental videos or wait until final QC?

Thanks
Bret

Go to project manager and create a collected copy of your final sequence. Copy that project to a drive and ship the drive to the station.

If they had all of the media from your project at the station you could simply email them your project file but I'm guessing that's not the case.

Ok thanks, I am going to give this a try and see if it will work.

The reason I am having them edit it is because I am not a real editor, and they are asking for specifications that I don't know about really. If this doesn't work I will have to try doing it myself though maybe. Thanks

If you can't figure it out, you can always hire an editor.
