Adobe Make the Cut winners

Sorry if this post is kind of "Adobe PR-ish", but I thought the concept was pretty cool and worth sharing. Some of you may have entered Adobe's Make the Cut contest, which was opened up before NAB. You were invited to recut Imagine Dragons' "Believer" music video using Adobe tools - primarily Premiere Pro. They just announced the winners and there is some really nice work on exhibit here. There were plenty of great videos that didn't win, of course, that really showcased a lot of talented people out there - both professionals and non-professionals alike.

I don't think the videos helped compliment the lyrics all that well. I also think many of the special effects made the composition look worse than the stock video clips. I think they selected the videos with a lot of effects so that people could leave comments asking how things were done. I think it was to highlight what could be done with the Premiere Pro more so than telling a story.

I was kinda surprised by this too. I made a cut where I only used the footage provided.

I would be ticked of if someone applied these cheesy effects to any of the Motley Cure, Metalica or Iron Maiden videos I grew up watching. I say tell the story don't bore me with cheesy effects. The cheesy effects ruined the cinematography in my opinion.

I think the video below is an example of a good music video. Having said that who wants to go for a ride : )
