Can I lock a project file from being overwritten?
on Feb 27, 2017 at 8:16:07 pm

I created a template project that I want to use as a starting point for each project I work on. However, I want to eliminate the possibility of ever over-writing this template incase I forget to do "save as" after starting my new project. I don't want to accidentally "save" over the template I created. Whats the best way to lock this file in windows 7 so it will force me to do save-as and not save in premiere?

I would suggest the safest way would be to Zip (archive) the original version of the file and put it away for safe keeping. However, maybe there's a Windows feature that can help. I don't know.

Hi,

you might also adjust your workflow to starting at the desktop and duplicating the PPro project file and and launching the application by way of opening the duplicate project.
