Combining formats in PPCC
on Jan 26, 2017 at 3:45:19 pm

I am creating residential walk-thru videos for real estate in 1080 format . Another vendor provides a Google Earth Flyover clip in 1280 x 720. I would like to combine the two clips into one timeline/video.

While the easy answer is to adjust the Google Earth clip to 1080 frame, I run the risk of losing resolution.

How do I create a clip within a clip? I can add a background for the 720 clip minutes to replace otherwise black background.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Greg,

720p footage often looks just fine in a 1080p sequence, and the viewer will likely never know the difference. That would be my first choice as a resolution to this issue.

Otherwise, you can simply put the 720p clip on the V2 track, and put whatever background still/video beneath it on V1 to replace the black area. That solution however is going to draw attention to itself, due to video not being full-screen, so again back to simply using the 720p footage full-screen (right-click and use Set to Frame Size to fill screen).

Thanks

If you think you need to restore the image a bit when you take the 720 up to 1080, try adding the Sharpen effect. Move the slider up to 10 or 20 to see if you like how it treats the picture, then adjust to your liking.
