Yes it's DV I'm going to. Initial step is VHS tape to DVD on combination player recorders; then ingest DVD to computer RAID storage; then import to Premiere Pro, then Media Encoder to DV...., 1000 to go.

I hope you don't expect these things to look good!

VHS playback looks bad enough, but you're going to transcode to go to DVD. The MPEG2 files common on DVD -- indeed, that's the ONLY compression allowed on authored DVDs -- throws away even more image information. Then the transcode to DV throws away more.

I don't envy the time when you present these to the client. You may want to do just one to show your results.
