Questions from a Newbie to Premiere Pro cc 2015

I just started working with Premiere Pro CC 2015 and I have a few questions to start out with:

1) I made a folder on my external Drive and named it PREMIERE (I am just learning so the folder name does not matter) I opened up the program and when it asked for the name of my project, I made up a name and set the scratch disc to the PREMIERE folder. When it opened up I imported some footage. A few of the clips were shot 720 x 480 30FPS and the other clips were shot 1920 x 1080 24 FPS. I made a new sequence, I did not touch any of the setting when that box came up. I put the 30 FPS clips on the timeline first. Then I put the 24 FPS on it next. When I did that, the 24 FPS looked like the 720 x 480 clips. It was square. So I made a new sequence, Again I did not touch the settings in that box, I put the 24 FPS first on the time line and the I did that, it looked like it was supposed to. Why did this happen? Does the timeline go by the first clip you put on it?

2) I rendered a clip on the timeline (I was told I had to do that eventually) and when I played it back it was fine. Now when I stretched out that clip on the timeline to add more to it, I rendered it endplayed it back. When it got to the place where I stretched it out I got this message in the Program Window: What is that and how come it appeared?

3) How can I customize my keyboard so it's like the one I use on my FCP 7 and X?

I'll have more questions I'm sure.

The stated program prerequisites for any NLE program are minimum and by that usually means one video track !

So you always need more hardware in every direction.

You say " external drive". That could mean anything on any bus outside the case.

(2)But to start just find the clip it is asking for. or reimport it.

But try to figure out why it was lost.
And is your external drive fast enough for video work ?

(1) Read about project and sequance settings and how to change them. Usually Premiere will tell you if the clip matches. And it will ask you if you want to keep the settings you set up at the start ( you did didn't you?) or if you want to change to the clip settings.

(3) Yes you can remap your keyboard. But if you no longer use FCP it is probably time to learn the existing PrPro shortcuts and layout.

As I said unless you still need FCP to dominate your NLE thinking you are better off learning Adobe UI in the long run.
I have used NLE on 4 OSes and 3 hardware platforms. Don't worry, you can handle the changes.
