Newbie seeking correct codec for slowing down cellphone footage
on Jan 29, 2016 at 11:02:36 pm

Hi everyone. So my situation is that I have a video that was apparently recorded on a cellphone, and I'm zooming in and slowing it down to show the details of an altercation. This video will be used as evidence in someone's court case, so it's important that as much detail be preserved as possible.

The problem is that I'm not sure what export format or codec to choose? The final product will likely need to be emailed to the attorneys, so some compression might be needed, although the clip is fairly short (around two minutes after slowing it down). The source footage came to me as an mp4 and seems to be 1920 x 1080.

I'm not totally new to video editing, but I have never really understood codecs and generally just take a guess at it or use the presets for youtube etc. Since an innocent man's freedom is at stake here, I want to make sure I get this right! Any and all advice will be much appreciated.
