Maximum audio and video track Premiere CC 2019

Hi there,

I am planning to import a choral song with many singers, perhaps 40 Facebook clips to make a short video.

I have successfully made a previous video with around 12 channels of audio and video like this.

What is the maximum number that Premier can work with, so I can make up a screen matrix with up to 40 peoples faces signing.

Has anyone had much experience of creating a Premiere clip with this many voices/faces please and ANY TIPS please.

We have arranged for a click track and a sync point at the beginning of the clip which lasts around 2 minutes although there maybe slight sync variations that I can edit out latter.

I would be interested in any advice or views - keep them clean please !!!

Many thanks

Alan

For audio tracks something like 32 mono channels max

The number of audio or video tracks is only limited by your resources on your PC. (RAM, CPU, DISK). There is no limit.

You may hit against the wall when you have to scroll up and down the layers often making it cumbersome to work. I am not sure if you are doing multiple videos alongside. That will add up to the number of tracks.

You may have to nest sequences in groups to make them manageable.

A recorded click is a good idea. you may have to put the click multiple times in nested sequence too when you monitor or edit them separately. You can mute the click track when you come back to the main timeline.

Clips are not limited, but tracks are limited (a horizontal portion of the timeline where you put your clips one after another )

Thank you for your comments.

So far I have managed to import 18 video clips all on their own timeline.

Then they have to be resized and re positioned and are becoming a fraction of their original size.

The problem is that Premiere will let me import the additional clips and put onto the timeline but now I am getting many crashes.

I have a powerful pc and I am I am running the latest version on Premiere CC 2019 and I am using a fast AMD Ryzen 7 1800 with 32GB of memory and and a 1080Ti video card.

My question is how to reduce computing overheads ?

Many of the incoming clips by musicians are not too big around 100 mb and filmed on mobile phones. As I have made the images so tiny on the screen, I suppose I could easily reduce the video size in a conversation if that would save processing power or perhaps all the cropping and size changes is eating up all the processor power and perhaps the best bet is to import each musicians, crop them to the appropriate size and export and then on re import the pc or software would be doing less work ? What do you think of this.

I guess I could also make numerous sequences and drop one into another but I am not sure what will be better to reduce the load on the PC.

I ask all of this as I have been talked into making a video with a choir of 60 people and frankly I am not sure how to manipulate so many tracks unless I do them in separate sequences and then overlay them say 10 at a time ?

Many thanks

Alan

If the clips are filmed on phones you might have issue with variable framerate (VFR) : https://www.reddit.com/r/VideoEditing/wiki/faq/vfr

That's true. You may have to modify the frame rates manually to sync the timings. Often with variable frame rates, the audio match but the video goes out of sync.

I am pleased to say I am up to 25 tracks now and although it heavy going do to using the resources for resizing and crop adjustments.

But so far it working ok thankfully.

I have seen some small variations in the clip length but a few small edits has made it VERY usable and sounds great.

I will let you know when it finished and send a link.

Regards

Alan
