Speeding up an audio in Premiere Prro

I try to change speed of an audio clip and maintain the pitch, but it makes the audio hollow sounding.

Any fixes out there?

Eric

Use Audition for this. The quality of the audio will depend on the amount of speed change no matter what you use, but Audition's a lot better than PP.

I agree Dale but I cannot find the icon in Audition for Global Clip Stretching that I see in this video:

I did find a free cloud site that does a great job in seconds. https://audiotrimmer.com/audio-speed-changer/

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Well, don't use that! You apply an audio EFFECT to the clip in audition.

In Audition, double-click on the clip. it opens the clip's waveform. Then go Effects>Time and Pitch>Stretch and Pitch. Play around with it until you get it right. Then export the clip for use in PP.

And remember, you can only speed up a clip just so much before it starts sounding goofy.

Hello again Dave.

Have you had time to check out the YouTube link that shows how to stretch and compress in Audition with automatic pitch correction? It looks great, but I cannot locate the tab that your'e supposed to turn on first. Maddening. You just highlight the track then drag let or right for compress or stretch.

If you find it please let me know.

My best,

E

Eric, this video was posted just a little over a week ago. He may be using the latest version of Audition; we don't know. You may be using an earlier version. We don't know. It may be the item you cannot find isn't in your version. He may also have a different screen layout that reveals it; a layout you aren't using.

We have quite a few possibilities to consider, but without additional info it is all guesswork.

Plus if I understand correctly what you want to do (reduce the length of an audio clip without changing pitch) the tool he's using is not the one for the job. You would be better served with the effect Dave recommends. I use it all the time to get music tracks where I want them to be.

System:
Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
Win 7 64-bit
32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2017.1 (as of 8/2017)
256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from UHD MP4, HD MP4, and HD P2 MXF.
