 | Need to set up VR-READY eGPU for MacBookPro

Hi People!
This info is probably to be found somewhere but I struggle to find the most up to date solution that is proven to work.
I have started out as a VR content creator but I learned very fast that my mac is not VR ready and much too slow.
My setup: MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) / 2,9 GHz Intel Core i7 / 16 GB / Radeon Pro 560 4096 MB
I don't have 5000€ to spend on a new iMacPro yet. So all I can do is upgrading the GPU for now.
Could please someone recommend a good eGPU enclosure and a good GPU that would support the HTC VIVE
and boost the speed of editing 4-6k 360° videos in Premiere and aftereffects.
Would you recommend Nvidia cards? So I can get back by beloved CUDA acceleration.
(but i'm not sure that they are compatible at the moment)
I have around 800€ to spend
Or do you say: It's just a minor improvement.
Save the money and put it towards a proper workstation computer (I'm actually ready to switch to PC when I see the price development for macs)
Thank you.

AFAIK there's no official VR hardware support on Macs in the first place so you would be spending money on a thing that will not even work.
