Unwanted artifacts show up in my export (w/pictures)
on Aug 27, 2018 at 4:14:44 pm

I'm working on a music video with an effect that I achieve by layering one clip on top of the other and then apply a cropping mask to the top clip and tracking it throughout the duration of the clip. This creates a wiping transition that I really enjoy. This is what the clip looks like in premiere:

And this is what it looks like upon exporting:

Why do those bars show up on the side when I export and how can I get rid of them? my theory is that it has something to do with the crop effect, but I have no idea why or what to do about it. PLEASE HELP
I'm also including a picture of the timeline at the point of the affected clips, and a picture of the effects on the top clip.

Are you sure you posted a before/after picture? Because I'm looking at both and I swear, they look identical to me.

I didn't see them either until I went full screen, was looking for black bars. I don't know the cause, but maybe try exporting with GPU Acceleration OFF as that sometimes is a fix for weird issues like this.

Thanks for the arrows. yeah they are much more noticeable in real-time. I will try another export but I think that this export was already done without GPU.
Thanks so much for the help, any more ideas from anyone is appreciated!

Do not use the mask on the Crop effect. It can cause strange behaviors.
Any other effect will be fine: i usually use Opacity.

Thank you for this. In the future I will be using an opacity mask instead of a crop, it's probably easier anyway.
