Raw green screen footage has frame drops / stutter
on Aug 16, 2018 at 9:37:40 am

Hello, I am having an issue where if I import raw green screen footage into premiere I have a horrible stutter or lag in the video. I have tried all of the following solutions so far:

Memory setting
Reducing video playback quality
Turning off FX
Changing the project settings
Changing Mercury
Changing the sequence settings
Rendering the sequence

All of these did not help resolve the issue, and this is happening regardless of what camera I use. I just tried it with 4 different cams and the stutter exists in all of them inside Premiere.

What are the footage specs and what are your computer specs?

Something is messed up with the metadata in he file. You need to tell Premiere not to pay attention to it.

Right click the clip in the Project window.

Select “Interpret Footage”.

Change it to 60fps, or 59.94 fps (Thats more common).

See if it plays better.

I would also convert your footage to DNxHD or ProRes, which is easier for Premiere to handle.

Premiere doesn't care if your footage is of a green screen or is regular video, so being green is irrelevant to the playback issue. Rather, please tell us what is the footage? What kind of clips from what camera?

As mentioned, the 1000fps thing is bizarre, so tell how the footage originated and that will help us to help you.

Thanks

Jeff

ok sure thing.

I am making a video comparing logitech webcams, I recorded footage of me infront of my GS for each camera, the videos were recorded using Open Broadcast Software, at a 10k bit rate, 1080p 60 fps, setting. I also recorded some other footage using a Canon R700 camcorder in the exact same spot.

The files were recorded using MKV and then remuxed to Mp4. If i key out the green screen in obs before recording the footage plays fine in premiere. But if i leave the GS in, the videos lag in playback.

The clips are all of me sitting in a chair and just talking. Nothing complex, and the room is well lit.
