format and codec for 5760 x 1080 video
on Aug 15, 2018 at 5:40:51 pm

For an art installation I need to project on 3 projectors (1920 x 1080).

My playback setup is: 1 PC with Windows 7, SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 and 3 projectors (1920 x 1080).

The video I need to project has a width of 3 x 1920 = 5760 and a height of 1080.

The editing is done with Premier Pro CC 2018 (version 12.1) under Windows 10.

What video format and what codec should I use for the final export?
- to allow the oversized width
- to have a good quality for a large screen projection
- so that it is not to heavy for the system

What reliable video player software should I use?

Before you even begin to do something like this, it might be wise to look into how to accomplish it, before even making your video files. I've made videos to span up to nine 16x9 portrait monitors by using software and hardware to specifically do that. The video was made at a fraction of the size and the software/hardware scaled it up to fit.

With 3 monitors, it might be possible to just use VLC to do this, but I've never done it that way. There is an option for rows/columns in VLC, but you'll need to investigate that.

This is the wrong forum to be looking in. But I see you already found the correct forum to ask. The Live & Stage Events.

Good Luck!
