Premiere crash... and crash... and crash
on May 26, 2018 at 9:18:48 pm

Hello... I am editing a feature film, shot in 4k, but editing using Proxies.
My project has started crashing everyday, sometimes several times a day.

I am assume that it is crashing because there are corrupt files... is there any way I can track down the corrupt files, delete from the project, and get rid of the problem?

I am editing with Premiere CC 2017
The file is now 42mb
I have something like 8TB imported into the project
All of the files are housed in external drives
The project file is on the hard drive

I am editing on an iMac, 2011, but have upgraded the hard drive
HD Capacity 479.24 gb. (48gb available)
Mac OS Sierra 10.12.5
PROCESSOR 3.1 INTEL CORE I5
MEMORY 16GB. 1333 MHZ DDR3
AMD RADEON 6970M 1024MB

ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Andy

What does your project folder structure look like? Where are your cache files going?

My project structure include separate bin for movie clips, and other stock footage clips, an audio bin, a bin for sequences, 7 bins in all, and go course bins inside of those. a few stray elements outside those main bins.

Cache files going to the library/... adobe.... media cache files. I just tried cleaning the cache, and still have 163gb left...

Your computer is very underpowered which may be contributing to your problems.

Any chance you can move to a more robust computer?

Possible solutions:

Start a new project, import a few sequences from your main project into the new project and attempt to work with isolated sequences to see if the crashes end.

Also, can you consolidate some of your media so that you're not dealing with such a large amount?
