How do you shorten over extended word in dialogue?
on Nov 10, 2017 at 12:00:35 am

I am working on a documentary and the interviewee drags the end of some words like for ex:
We went to theeeeeeeee beach
She does that a lot and I need to shorten.
Basic fading isn't working well.
Keyframing either...

ANy idea / trick?

Thanks

You can try a fade with a short reverb and playing with dry\wet on the effect.

The effect must be track effect not clip effect

[Massimo Alberto Croce] "playing with dry\wet"

not familiar with this... Is it the name of effect? Couldn't find it.

If you send the clip to Audition, you can use its time stretch feature to play with this and see if you can improve it.

Finding an example of a short "the" or "to the" from somewhere else in the interview and editing it in is probably easier than adjusting what's there. With such a short sound you might even get away with using someone else's voice.

“In other words, it ain't easy to fix. Or fast.”

Its not bad, really.

Comparing the time wasted to find a similar sound and trying to cobble something together with less than satisfying results to using the right tool for the job.
