Creating Searchable Metadata for Sequences in Premiere Pro
on Oct 25, 2017 at 3:25:07 pm

I'm working on a feature documentary. Since we're shooting so much we've decided to organize our footage into a system of master sequences that are assemblies of all of our clips.

The goal is to never have to search for individual clips but instead search the master sequences. I've tried to make custom columns for things like characters but when I try to search for them nothing comes up. It seems like the metadata search function only works for clips and not for sequences.

Is this true? If not, what can I do to make this work? Thanks so much!

I'm not sure whether this info will help you out, but it appears that you can have file-based Metadata:

This won't get you sequence-based Metadata, but it might be a step in the right direction. Adobe Bridge will also give you access to a wealth of metadata information, some of it "under the hood" stuff. But it looks as if the Metadata breaks down into "file", "clip", and "project". Here's the word from Adobe:
