HI
I am using ppro cs4 and sony nxcam.
I have problem with audio;

ppro will play audio as too loud(distrted noise)
I have no idea what is wrong
Ppro should understand uncompressed audio
please help
regards

PCM is the format for DV as well and works fine...what does Premiere's Audio Meter display when playing your audio?

The NXcam has a bunch of settings, make sure you've setup ok.

Here is a link that has a workflow for CS4

Brian - I used the Sony workflow for Ppro CS4 but it still does not recover usable audio. The Sony CMF utility plays the audio fine. It says the clip has 48k Stereo audio. None of the audio settings in PPro work. Itried Log and Transfer in FCP7. The audio plays but FCP does not have the right codec to convert the AVCHD video to QuickTime. Something is missing somewhere. Hopefully Sony tech support people read this! - Bill

This link is worthless from Sony. I read it when I got my NXCAM in trying to make sure all was right for my workflow..... BUT WHAT SONY FAILS to inform you is that LPCM audio in not compatible with Premiere Pro CS4 and that Premiere Pro CS4 users should set their new NXCAMs to Dolby Digital for proper playback of audio when importing into Premiere Pro CS4. I am dealing with this same issue.

Sony promotes LPCM audio and then when you think your doing right all you get is a loud HISSSS from the audio after importing to Premiere Pro CS4.

What a monkey wrench! I have 5 hours of footage I have to work on that was captured in LPCM audio. I have contacted Adobe Support so hopefully I can get a solution that works.

If any one has a solution please advise.
Thanks

Chad

I submitted an Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 tech support request but all they was refer me to the Sony written work flow document that appears to be identical to that provided with the camera. There is a similar thread on the Adobe PPRO forum: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2610318#2610318

My suggestion is to submit a Adobe tech support request yourself. Go here to sign in or register: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/support/index.cfm?event=membership&returnURL=...

If you already have footage that you shot with the LPCM audio setting on and you can't reshoot than you will have to download the Sony Vegas Pro free trial to be able to do any editing and rendering. It has a bit of a learning curve, but is good software once you get the setting right and find the commands you want.

For future recordings set your audio setting on your camera to dolby from here forth or give into Sony and buy Vegas Pro after your 30 trial expires. Not sure yet if CS5 premiere can handle LPCM audio yet.

Good luck,
Chad
