I just finished my second project on the Alexa.
Is it just me or do the skin tones have a tendency to blend into one
Its difficult to describe, but it looks to me as if there is less
color definition in the skin tones.
especially when an actor has a heavy foundation makeup it all becomes one tone.
excuse me for not being able to describe this phenomenon more eloquently but English is not my native language.
And the job does not allow me to post footage.
These production company's are very nervous about posting images on social media nowadays.
Skintone is such a hard to identify thing sometimes with how different cameras handle it. It is almost always one of the most heated discussions too because it is so related to one's taste and personal interpretations. I find that with my RED I change the skintone so much in post so quickly with the coloring process that what I captured on set is rarely as important as the minute differences that different cameras offer. And remember - there is an entire makeup industry that is designed to make the majority of someone's face look identical, so it's not always such a bad thing.
