To manage a live previz workflow, we have to work on the full workflow of a production on set.
And thus we are developing an application bundle to do exactly that.
Currently we pull files off camera once they are shot (with our HAL box) with metadata and scriptnotes (from Movieslate) and send them directly to editorials and dailies (Drylab) for The Norwegian Broadcasting corp.
Some of these apps and functions have been in major productions since August at NRK and Mikrosimage.
We have a very holistic approach to metadata acquisition and management.
The first public release of the workflow app is pretty limited, though, and focuses on the copy-functionality.
It recognises ARRI prores and .ari files automatically and administers them as they get in.
First beta/preview has no transcoding capacity. It's purely a very fast and secure copying application, 1/3 faster than any other app we have tried.
Next beta will give a lot more flexibility in how you set up and administer your project.
This is now pretty much fixed into a set structure.
The logging conform is for FCP7.xml,
We use it both to make dailies with metadata and to set up projects in Premiere.
AVID and FCPx support is on its way.
It does currently not automatically recognise MXF files as camera originals, but it will let you copy, checksum and verify "anything". The handling of "unknown" formats will also be much more elegant in Beta2.
But I am curious about feedback from ARRI users, so here it is:
