Areca ARC-5040-U3 / RAID Setup

Recently, I received the Areca ARC-5040-U3 and 8 new 3TB drives. One of the drives was bad. So, I had to wait until yesterday to get started. I have all 8 drives, green light. I initialized the RAID as a RAID5, which would give me a 21TB volume. I am using Windows 7 x64. It seems to be all setup on the Areca side, but it does not show in Computer Management / Disk Management to format. It has been a while since I have done this fresh. Am I missing a step? I selected 128 as the stripe size. Is that a problem for Windows?

I do note that it says this at the bottom in red. I am connected via USB 3.0.

SATA(CH0):Drv#0~7 eSATA Port
Drv#8~15 USB3.0/1394 Port
Port Multiplier Supported Host SATA Port Is Needed To
Recognize Drv#1~7 and Drv#9~15

USB :USBiA(CH1) Drv#0~7 as LUN#0~7 (must start from 0)
iSCSI/AoE : USBiA Drv#8~15 as TargNode#8~15

Thanks much in advance for help.

Chris,

I think your best bet would be to contact Areca directly on your issue. When in doubt go to the manufacturer directly.

I'm sorry to say that I cannot remember the issue now for sure. I think it was something with the USB 3.0 port. I am using eSATA now, and everything has been working great for a long time.
