Thunderbolt RAID for editing H.264 4K Footage

Hey gang!

I recently upgraded from a Lumix GH3 to GH4 to embrace 4K. I'm editing on a mid 2012 MBP w/ 8 GB RAM using Premier Pro CC and 2014. I'm looking for an external RAID that will handle the H.264 compressed 4K footage the GH4 shoots at 100mbps in MOV or MP4. I'm new to 4K so I'm really clueless as far as the workflow. I'm using a G-Tech 1TB 7200 spin external Thunderbolt drive now and it's kinda choppy at best as soon as I add a graphic layer or do any grading. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

A Promise Pegasus Thunderbolt-2 8-drive array is what you really need. B&H is most likely going to have the best price.

Hi Dave - An 8 bay array for compressed H.264 100Mbps 4K? Wow...

Okay, then get a 4-bay or 6-bay Pegasus... The bottom line is, they are all VERY inexpensive and require no controller card.
