combining two .mov files to play along side of one another
on Jul 30, 2012 at 12:48:00 pm

I'm trying to get two .mov files to play in unison with each other side by side and also have a caption at the bottom of each file, anyone any ideas.

I have it installed on windows 7 and an going through the command line.

I'm also new at this so any answers will need to be explained in detail

here is what I have already

ffmpeg -i orig.mov -an -vcodec v210 -vf "pad=2*iw+30:ih+20:10:10:blue [orig]; movie=2a.mov [new] ; [orig][new] overlay=740:10 [overlay]; [overlay] drawtext=fontfile=C:/windows/fonts/FreeSerif.ttf:fontsize=32:fontcolor=white@0.3:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.3:text=orig.mov:x=300:y=530 [text1]; [text1] draw text=fontfile=C:/windows/fonts/FreeSerif.ttf:fontsize=32:fontcolor=white@0.3:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.3:text=2a.mov:x=1020:y=530 [text2] ; [text2] yadif=0:-1:0 [out]" -sameq -vcodec v210 2a_sbs.mov

but i'm getting an error:

No such filter: 'drawtext'
Error opening filters!

cheers

First check that the build you are using supports that filter.

To get a listing of available filters:
ffmpeg -filters

Good advice. It is also important to know that the filter in question (drawtext) has a dependency of libfreetype which you must install first and the enable in FFmpeg by using --enable-libfreetype.
