Creating a MPEG2 video from still pictures
on Mar 4, 2012 at 12:25:55 am

Hi all:

I'm using FFmpeg to create MPEG2 videos from still pictures. I use it to generate the menus for DVDs. Unfortunately, there's something that I must be doing wrong, because some people has problems with that DVDs: the menus are not visible, it jumps directly to the first video. But the same disc, in other players, works fine. And using Mencoder instead of FFmpeg works on all players.

Currently I use this line to generate the MPEG2 file:

ffmpeg -loop_input -f image2 -t 39 -i /picture.png -i /silence.ogg -y -target pal-dvd -s 720x576 -g 12 -ac 2 -trellis 1 -mbd 2 -b 1000000 -ab 128000 -aspect 4:3 /output.mpg

being "picture.png" the still picture for the video; "silence.ogg" the audio to be played in background; "-t 39" is the length of the audio; and "output.mpg", obviously, is the desired output MPEG2 file.

Can someone help me?

Thanks!
