Ffmpeg Segment.c

A quick question here.... i was working on a test program for the segment.c(http://ffmpeg.org/doxygen/trunk/segment_8c.html#a3ace32a21efdfe65295a9235461fc1d) file and was wondering why all the functions in it has not been referenced by any outside function from the ffmpeg main(i.e. by looking at the doxygen documentation). meanwhile, such operation is possible with ffmpeg,

$ ffmpeg.exe -i foreman_cif.mp4 -vcodec mpeg4 -acodec copy -map 0 -r 10 -f segment -segment_time 1 -container_format mp4 -segment_pattern %03d -segment_basename out dummy_out.mp4

also grep resulted in,

$ grep -r "seg_write_packet" /home/ted/ffmpeg-new/ffmpeg-0.9.1/
Binary file /home/ted/ffmpeg-new/ffmpeg-0.9.1/ffmpeg.exe matches
Binary file /home/ted/ffmpeg-new/ffmpeg-0.9.1/ffmpeg_g.exe matches
Binary file /home/ted/ffmpeg-new/ffmpeg-0.9.1/ffprobe.exe matches
Binary file /home/ted/ffmpeg-new/ffmpeg-0.9.1/ffprobe_g.exe matches
Binary file /home/ted/ffmpeg-new/ffmpeg-0.9.1/libavformat/libavformat.a matches
/home/ted/ffmpeg-new/ffmpeg-0.9.1/libavformat/segment.c:static int seg_write_pac
ket(AVFormatContext *s, AVPacket *pkt)
/home/ted/ffmpeg-new/ffmpeg-0.9.1/libavformat/segment.c: .write_packet = se
g_write_packet,
Binary file /home/ted/ffmpeg-new/ffmpeg-0.9.1/libavformat/segment.o matches

....... so where is seg_write_packet and other functions in segment.c are referenced from to end up in the binaries.
