vob to prores conversion
on Jun 3, 2013 at 2:08:58 pm

I'm trying to use the following:

ffmpeg -i origingal.vob -c:v prores -profile:v 3 -c:a pcm_s16le ffmpegconv/converted.mov

but I am getting the error

Unrecognized option 'c:v'

I seem to remember having used the same syntax before with good results and no error but perhaps with another version of ffmpeg? I'm running ffmpeg version 0.8.12.

thanks.

That version of ffmpeg is way too old. It neither supports ProRes encoding nor the newer argument style you are attempting to use. Update.

As we know VOB such a kind of video file usually contains one or several audio tracks and subtitle tracks that are multiplexed together into one stream form. It is not the ideal format for editing purpose. A workable way I’ve used to convert VOB to ProRes 422, 4444 is using a professional ProRes codec converter.
