FSI OLED and Colour for Cinema
on Aug 26, 2016 at 3:17:06 am

Hello,

I am awaiting my new AM250 for my second suite. I will be using it for post/design for TV and for Cinema. Up to this point I have been using an LM-2461W which is excellent for both (the P3 emulation is really quite good) and imbues confidence when walking into a DI theater.

I understand that the contrast ratio on the OLED panels is very high and the spectrum of these panels is different than the CCFLs.

I understand that one needs to use the Judd modified colour matching and lower the contrast a bit to get closer to the contrast ratio for cinema.

Does anyone have experience with this? Would anyone be able to offer up a starting point for contrast level on the OLED panels that would get me close to projection (Christie/Barco)?

I will be doing an animation grade in about 2 weeks. It will for TV and it will end up in Cinema (I will be colouring in rec709). I will have a bit of opportunity to test, but I would love to be close when I walk into finishing.
