1080p 23.98 ProRes4444 from Color flickering on Flanders - showing up as psf??

Hello

Ok so on a new Flanders 2461W getting a SDI signal from a BMD Extreme 3D+ I have FCP & Color set to output 1080p 23.976 10 bit but the Flanders reads psf when I hit SD1 to tell me what signal its getting. I am seeing flickering on a couple shots in both FCP & Color and I am wondering if a setting is incorrect somewhere. Its only on a couple shots where highlights are flickering a bit when video is paused or playing back. I do not however see this on the panny plasma that the client looks at.

Just to be clear this box has just been setup to make the move to Resolve eventually so it has the 120/285 card combo - monitors plugged into the 285, and BMD card & 24 GB RAM are all new....along with a Euphonix MC Color.

I do know that this box had an AJA Kona 3 card previously and I do still see some Aja options come up in FCP easy setup - not sure if that has anything at all to do with the problem but I figure I should at least mention it in case I need to remove some Aja stuff from the system?? I do however notice that there are no Aja options under video playback options in FCP.

I am also curious what my output settings should be in Color - i currently have it set to 1080p 23.976 10 bit but I do see RGB as an option which I thought to ask about in that I am using ProRes 4444 footage.

Any help with this would be awesome.
Thank you

If the monitor says it is getting 24psf then that is what is being sent to it. Keep in mind that 24psf to a monitor essentially arrives as interlaced so some flicker should be expected. At 24p you should get less to no flicker. You can also put the monitor in noise reduction to force it into a progressive scan, which should cut down on any flicker, but ultimately that won't be showing you the signal quite as it really is being delivered to the unit.

The other FCP/AJA/BMD questions are outside my realm of expertise so you may want to follow up with those respective companies to see if they have any ideas.

Hi Andrew,

The monitor is seeing 24psf from the Decklink card. Double check the settings in the BMD software to see if it is converting the video from 1080p 23.98 to 24psf.
