Are speakers close to an LCD display a potential problem?
on Mar 25, 2011 at 11:02:24 pm

I just got some Alesis 520 75 watt speakers for monitoring sound. Because of my setup, the easiest place to put my right speaker is about 4" from my FSI 1760 display (and about 3" from my Dell 24" LCD). Does this present any hazard to my monitor? I know with CRTs it is a definite problem, but not sure about LCDs. Thanks!

I'm in a very similar boat (even the same model FSI) -- except I think it's closer than 4" :( And my computer monitor is an Apple LED.

I'm interested in the response.

This should be no issue and does not pose a risk to the monitor. Whenever you have different electronic devices that close together there is some, albeit it small, possibility of interference, but you are not going to break the monitor simply by having it that close to your speakers. Your LCD monitor is much more tolerant of environmental variables than a CRT monitor.
