keeping Timecode on conversion of clips?
on Nov 16, 2012 at 6:07:28 pm

I regularly use MPEG Streamclip to convert DSLR footage to ProRes 422 before editing in FCP. However, for one of my clients this has been problematic because they reference the timecode numbers from the original clips. Each new converted clip begins at ZERO so the original timecode numbers become pointless.

So, does anybody know a way to convert these clips while keeping the timecode numbers?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,
QTchange can do this.
Load the clips (set your FPS first!), then save attributes.
Next to your clips a small file called 'filename.att' wil be saved.
Then place these att files next to your rendered files (the renders should have the same filename, or a longer filename, the beginning must match)
In QTchange, select the 'use tc from attributs', then load the renders.
Highlight 'refresh timecode', and press 'do it'.

Should do the trick.
Get QTchange here: (there is a free demo)
