EOS Utility and Video?

Hi,

I am having trouble importing my footage into Final Cut Pro's 'Log & Transfer' function that was downloaded from my Canon 60D to my computer using the 'EOS Utility' that came with the camera?

I watched a workflow video on how to import your footage from camera to FCP and they didn't use the 'EOS Utility'? Should I uninstall the EOS Utility? And if so will my camera show up as a drive so I can manually drag and drop all of the media from my camera to my computer? Because it doesn't show up as a drive now. It just auto-sarts EOS Utility.

Any words of wisdom is greatly appreciated.

Thank You

D

Are you using a card reader?

No. Stright from the camera via USB port. Should I be?

Thanks

Dustin,
The EOS Utility is NOT needed if you have the proper version of FCP. Log and Transfer looks at attached cameras or card readers and allows direct import AND transcoding of files directly into the FCP capture scratch PROVIDED the files are in the proper places AND in the proper format.
If you have moved the original files, if you have separated the content and the thumbnails, or if you have otherwise broken the directory structure that FCP expects, the software will not find the files.
A card reader is useful since mounting the original card ensures that the files are in the proper file structure.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
