Reduce source image for 7D using prores?
on Feb 12, 2010 at 6:03:20 pm

hello,

wondering if there's a way to resize source clips from the 7D when creating a prores droplet in compressor? i'd like to reduce the native 1920x1080 image to 1280x720 to save space, as a lot of my work will end up being used for web/dvd anyways.

any feedback would be appreciated. thanks-

Where's the problem? Compressor can scale to any target size.

Thanks. Think I've got it figured out. I'm using FCP 6 and Compressor version 3.0.5.- resizing to 720p but still wondering if I can make files even smaller. Have tried numerous tests now converting clips to AIC 1080p, AIC 720p, etc. That helps reduce size further, but everyone I've spoken with encourages me to stick to ProRes.

Yes, I suggest ProRes too. Your editin experience will be better, since ProRes is optimized for FCP. Diskspace is cheap these days…
