Flycam 3000 vs Flycam Nano
on Dec 21, 2012 at 3:54:29 am

I recently purchased the Flycam 5000. Mistake. It is intended for big, broadcast, shoulder-mount cameras, not DSLR. I found myself having to 'build on' my rig up top just to add MORE weight and still not getting the result I wanted.
So I know I need to go smaller, but how much smaller?
The reason I chose the 5000 first was because sometimes I do have a mic/light/h4n/etc on my scorpion rig and I'd like to be able to snap that on top. Maybe I'm just over thinking this, and maybe that is NOT what a Flycam is even intended for. Maybe I need to use it for what it's for and that's just a camera.
But I am still undecided between the Nano and the 3000.
Anyone out there used both and can help me flip this coin for me?
I appreciate your advice, thanks in advance!

I haven't used either. Is there a place you can rent from? Then you can try it out.

Ask the place you purchase it from what their return policy. Usually, you can return it for a full refund within 7 days. Then at least you can give it a test run.

I sold my Nano. It can fly a Dslr and a wide angle liens like the Tokina 11/16mm, but it is difficult to balance properly -- as the adjustment controls are not engineered well.

I now own and can recommend the Glidecam HD4000, but runs $570.

I have heard good things about this cheaper Chinese knockoff:
