Catalogue names based on path?

I understand that we can use $p in the publish box to structure the catalogues according to media path. Excellent!

I want a slight variant... I want exactly as above except I want the path to start from the watch folder rather than the root.

I got close with $r except it created a catalogue per file.

Reason:
I don't want my clients, on the web interface to see my root path to their files as it is not relevant to them and has no benefit to navigating to their files.

Many thx:)

OK worked it out:)

Use $P in the publish box. Provided that under the Trigger yab the "Watch Folder" box is the same as the "Relative To" box.

Next Question...How to auto create a catalogue for each folder 1 level below the Watch Folder....Hmm

Any suggestions?

Hi Daryl-

There is another variable "$h" which is the first component of the path below the root (in this case the Watch Folder), but if you're willing to stretch a bit you could use a REGEX expression so that you could target a specific argument within the root regardless of how many path components there are, e.g. the 2nd level after the root.

Regex is fully supported in many areas within Worker and is a very powerful way to control operations and extract metadata from file names, files paths, etc.

Thx Bob!

This is perfect! Combined with $P it puts all the catalogues in the correct folder also.

Steep learning curve but endless fun.

Daryl

Favourite Publish string so far:

$j$P/$q

Perfect for an organised catalogue structure!
