CatDV Flips Entries In Fields

Entries in "Working Title" and "Production Team" flip-flop every time I close then re-open CatDV. Same thing for "People Interviewed" and "Organization." Highly annoying. These might be field names my employer came up so you might see something different, but do any of you experience this same frustration, and if so what solutions have you come up with?

Could you give us some more info?

Specifically are those 2 fields that switch as in:

"Working Title" = USER11

"Production Team" = USER12

And the values from USER11 end up in USER12?

Or is it like "Production Team" has "Bob, Sam, and Bill" in it and t comes back ?Sam, Bill and Bob"?

If you're not clear what USER ID the fields are, then you're probably close to finding the answer, keep looking into that.

The 1st half of your response nailed it. But also include Interviewee and Organization as also flipping values.

Ok, are you perhaps using 2 copies of CatDV that don't have matched settings?

If you are using the standalone product, there's no way to ensure that someone doesn't change the field layout.

If you enter data on a machine. Then save it and re-open the catalog and the data has moved, then you have a situation that I've never seen.

If it's flipping when moving between machines, then you have mapped the fields incorrectly perhaps.

People always wonder why we start every deployment with a clear document laying out what fields are where and this is the reason. Names don't matter in a db, the ID is the law. Check the field ID's (you can do this by hovering over the field labels in the GUI) and see if there are discrepancies in the layouts.

Thanks. It was a discrepancy moving between three different machines. Appreciate.
