Plugin Suggestions for DaVinci Resolve
on Apr 26, 2018 at 11:41:04 pm

After testing several NLE software I have decided to commit to Resolve. Now I need some suggestions on plugins.
What plugins can I use to remove audio hiss and noise? I was also looking at Newblue FX Titler Pro for custom titles.
Would also need a something to fix camera shake, but I think the studio version has that. I would like to hear from others on what they have added.

iZotope has a fantastic set of VST plugins that handle all sorts of audio denoise and restoration.
I also have Boris Continuum 11 which is a great set of tools for object removal, keying, titles etc etc. You can also buy just parts of the set as Continuum Units.
I also have Red Giant Universe but they are less useful for my applications but I bought the permanent license a few years ago.

Consider Resolve v15, it has native audio plugins for noise removal, hum, etc etc... also 2D and 3D titles. Why do you need other plugins.

I want other plugins so I have options. Dose DR comes camera stabilization?

" Dose DR comes camera stabilization?"

Yes and it is very good. On the Color page where the tracking window is, you can select stabilization.

I'm a big fan of Boris BCC and Sapphire, each of which have far more options than what you get in Resolve FX. I think the Red Giant OFX plug-ins are hit-and-miss, and the interface is dodgy; I'm not that much of a fan of HitFilm Ignite, but they do have some interesting features you can't find anywhere else. And I sometimes will grab the DFT plug ins when I need to do an unusual Tiffen-esque filtered look.

For audio plug-ins, the full line of Waves plugs (like the Platinum or Diamond packages) are very useful, and I like the Nugen plugs for metering and stereo/surround soundstage tweaking. iZotope RX is unmatched for noise reduction, but I tend to use that in standalone mode and not as part of the mix, because I treat each source track separately before bringing it into the mix.

The new array of FX in Resolve 15 is pretty phenomenal.

Oh, I have one more question, it is on the best codec to use. With the free version was converting my Sony AVCHD mts2 files to DNxHD files. Is this a good work flow?
