Restoring Deleted Timeline
on Sep 1, 2017 at 11:32:00 am

Hey everyone,

I accidentally deleted a Timeline from a project I then saved and closed, and when re-opening the project I can't find any option to restore a previous version of it...any hints? I've Googled around but really can't find a simple answer. I'm using 12.5 Studio on a mac running 10.12.6 Sierra (can't believe FCP 7 will be gone in the next update!).

You know how Premiere automatically stores archives of its projects? That's the equivalent I'm looking for in Resolve...

Thankyou,
Garry

Did you export a backup copy of the project? The deleted timeline should still exist in that project.

I'm paranoid enough that I save backup DRPs every single day (sometimes twice a day if it's supervised and I get a lunch break), and I try to backup the Project Database once a week. It's rare I delete anything and have to do a restore, but it has happened.

Thanks for the reply Marc - I've never done a manual backup, no, I have Time Machine backups and I'm used to Premiere's approach where the archives are there in the background waiting to be accessed if needs be. I'm learning it isn't that straightforward with Resolve - it seems I can't even access a previous save of the project on the Time Machine disk, which is baffling me.

I'm assuming I've lost that timeline, which is incredible. Time to set up some auto-saves...

Thanks again.
