FCP XML import error "no valid sequences are present in the file"
on Aug 13, 2016 at 3:48:48 pm

Hello everybody.

I'm having a nightmare here, I brought home a project from office to grade and it just doesn't open. I have the fcpxml and all the original footage, I'm using Resolve 12.5 and when I select the fcpxml to import into Resolve, immediately appears the message "no valid sequences are present in the file", not even the options to load the xml appear.

Any idea what to do?

I'm not sure if this is the way to post it, but here should be my fcpxml:

Was the timeline flattened? Are there any nested sequences? Any multicam going on?

I find that the timeline has to be simplified as much as possible in order to go over well from any editing program to any other editing program (including Resolve). It helps to have specific reel names and non-overlapping timecode on every single clip.

I have open the xml with a text editor and It seems that you have exported only one clip, try re-export the fcpX timeline.

I also tell my clients to give me an AAF (if possible), an XML, and an old-school EDL just so I can go back and try to figure out when and where something went wrong. One of those will generally provide the answers.

Resolve reads XMLs for timelines, not discreet clips. If you make the xml for the source timeline it should work.
