Making High FPS footage look "natural 24fps"
on Jul 14, 2016 at 10:32:56 am

Hey everyone
I've been doing some tests for a project, the DP is planning on filming a lot of high fps footage with the Sony F55: 48fps, 60fps and 120fps. Did a few ramp tests and it performed very well. The only downside is, when the footage reaches what should be "realtime", it looks a little sped up and doesn't behave like normal, 24fps footage.

I've tried this in two ways:
1) When importing the footage to resolve, I go to "Clip Attributes" and manually reassign it to it's base fps instead of 24fps. Then put it in the timeline, so it plays realtime. This doesn't work for 120fps, since the highest I can set it to is 96fps.
2) I import it like Resolve's default, at 24fps slow motion, and speed it up in the timeline so it reaches realtime.

*frame retiming behaviour is set to "nearest", but tried it with "frame blending" also.

Both lead to similar, unsatifying, results.

What should I do? I'm pretty sure there's a way, but never done this before, so I'm lost :)

Thanks
