Grading in P3 Projector

Hi, everyone!

I've been working as a colourist for a few years using monitors set to R709. I'm not familiar with grading with projectors, although I know, in theory, about working in P3 DCI space, differences in gamma and XYZ color profiles.

My company is getting bigger and they're about to buy a Barco or a NEC projector to use for color grading and DCP reviewing. The system will be MAC-based (unfortunately Linux isn't an option right now) and I'm wondering if there's any issues I don't know about that I should be aware of.

By "issues" I mean, can I grade in P3 using a mac? I saw some people mentioning only Linux, but found that unlikely. I just need to set the projector in and out properly and work on data levels, right? Or do I need to use LUTs to do colorspace conversion?

As you can see, I'm a little bit lost on the subject.

Sorry for the long post!

You can grade for P3 just by connecting a P3 projector, and more technically, using Resolve Color Management (RCM) you can select to transform your timeline color space to P3 output color space.

Details in the manual.
