I use Davinci Resolve 12.1.
I want to reconform all clips in a timeline to another bin.
Bin1: Original Footage
Bin2: Proxy Footage
Filenames are the same.
Original Clips are MXF, Proxys are MOV.
I cut some Proxys from Bin2 into the timeline and want to replace it with the original footage from Bin1.
I follow the instructions from the manual (Page 553). It says to disable "Force Conform Enabled" for all clips in the timeline and reconform the timeline after that (with selecting Bin1).
If I do so, all the clips in the timeline will be connected to just one single clip from Bin1 with a
completely different filename.
If I do without enabling "Force Conform Enabled" nothing is happend. All Clips are still Proxy from Bin2.
Looks like a simple problem but I cannot figure it out.
Thanks for some help.
My workaround has been to export an XML from the good timeline, then reimport the XML and point it to the camera original directory for a new conform in a new timeline, then use ColorTrace to bring in the old timeline's color corrections. This can work. The other thing you can do is try Change Source Folder, and then Relink Clips if a few stragglers didn't quite make it.
The brute force method is to bring in the camera clips in the media page and have them already there during the conform, but I haven't had to do this in some time. The entire chapter on Conforming (pages 497-558) in the latest v12 manual is a critical one and is worth reading a couple of times.
