Saving Project backups
on Nov 12, 2015 at 11:00:35 pm

For peace of mind, I like to be able to save projects on more than one hard drive. Also, given the possibility of a corrupt file, I like the idea of having multiple copies of the project file.

I understand that Resolve does not create individual project files; they're all part of a single database.

How does Resolve allow its users to create backups somewhere other than the original location? Can I create a backup without causing linkage problems to the original "Projects" file?

Thank you.

Hi,
you have to export them.
And then you keep them anyplace you want.

Peace!

[Bob Cole] "Can I create a backup without causing linkage problems to the original "Projects" file?"

Basically the same rules apply as most NLEs; there are consolidate options and then there is the more straightforward export of a .drp -- but it is still going to expect the source media to be where you initially linked it to create the project database.

Thanks!

Related question: File/Project Settings/Auto Save gives several options:

- Off
- On
- To Backup Project

What are the relative advantages and disadvantages of "On" vs. "To Backup Project"?

"To Backup Project" creates bigger files and takes longer.
