New Titan in a 2008 Mac Pro Is it worth it?

Hello Folks,
I am on an old 2008 2.8 Quad core Xeon Mac Pro that's gotten a little long in the tooth but still runs fairly well. The bad news is the configuration is no longer officially supported in Resolve 10, even though I've not experienced any serious issues or crashes using a variety of footage and projects old and new. I would like to squeeze a little more life out of it. I know an upgrade is imminent as I am also hampered by the 3G SATA connection.

Professionally speaking, is this a silly notion? Am I needlessly torturing myself by being such a skin flint? But also in technology it's tempting to run after the new amazing shiny thing. Would performance be significantly better?

In addition to Resolve, I run After Effects

From what I've read about the Titan, I could replace both my cards, presently a aTI 5770 and Mac Flashed GTX 470 provided I have an external power supply and get markedly better performance. I could also repurpose the Titan in a new PC if I decide to go that route.

Has anyone made the upgrade to the new Mac Pro and crapped their pants at how much better their life has gotten?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

-Lee

Not worth the upgrade for you. Your box is 6, count em 6 years old. It's single CPU. Save your pennies and get an 8core d700 nMP. If you want to stick with apple. But your bottleneck is not your gpu right now.
